Magic Carpet Project

Lesson: Art and design

The children have experienced for themselves how using primary colours only can create secondary and tertiary colour. They have also used white to change the tone of colours.

The cutting and collage of the painted sheets of paper has shown that even when dry colour placed next to another colour can have an effect. The careful looking at the cut strips of paper has given them an awareness of how colours work with each other to create effective patterns as complex as the Persian rugs which inspired the project.
